This will prove that after Twilight, there’s still an equally bloody rewarding career outside of Hollywood for its cast.
Kellan Lutz, the actor who played Emmett Cullen in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s phenomenally-successful vampire novel series, has reportedly inked a deal with Calvin Klein to become the clothing company’s lead underwear model.
According to an unidentified source from Fox News, the actor is starring in a huge campaign similar to Mark Wahlberg, the Hollywood “bad boy” heartthrob who brought Calvin Klein’s underwear to iconic status in the 1990s.
“Kellan has been signed to Calvin Klein for a huge campaign that will feature him in his skivvies all over billboards and in magazine,” said the source. “They want to recreate the look of the hugely successful ads, and who is better than Kellan Lutz to fill out those little underwear?” the source added.
Wahlberg’s underwear campaign was shot 17 years ago by the late fashion photographer Herb Ritts. The photographer of Lutz’ ad campaign has yet to be announced.
The success of the then ad campaign significantly boosted the popularity both of the actor and the brand. It is believed that people who once appreciated the naughty, crotch-clutching Wahlberg will be nostalgic on Lutz’ remake of the ad, and people who were too young to appreciate Wahlberg back then will find a male fantasy figure through Lutz.
Will Lutz be able to surpass the success of his predecessor? The job seems like some huge underwear to fill.
Lutz has already done several television shows like Model Citizens, The Comeback, The Bold and the Beautiful, Six Feet Under, CSI and Heroes, but his vampire role in Twilight made his celebrity global. If you remember Hillary Duff’s With Love music video, he’s the same guy who chases after the former Disney princess.
Aside from the two more installments of the Twilight franchise, Lutz will also be seen in a remake of the horror film series A Nightmare on Elm Street in the summer of 2010.
The actor will play the role of Dean, a gorgeous and well-off high school jock who’ll be part of a clique of teenagers being haunted in their dreams by the legendary disfigured dream stalker, Freddy Krueger. (Jezriel M)
