Attention, British fashionistas and stylistas! UK’s mightiest personalities in fashion have just been announced.
The British Fashion Council (BFC)—the authority in UK’s fashion industry, founder of British Fashion Awards and organizer of London Fashion Week—released a list of 25 people considered as the most powerful in its field. The honor roll is part of a celebration marking the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week.
The most popular in this powerhouse cast are supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, with both sharing Hollywood celebrity status surpassing their fashion profiles, as well as designers whose names have been turned into luxury labels—John Galliano, Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, Christopher Bailey and Paul Smith.
The list includes celebrities like former-Spice Girls member and now renowned fashion designer Victoria Beckham; model-turned-actress Olga Kurylenko, known for films like Quantum of Solace and Hitman; actress Rosamund Pike, known for her box office hits like Die Another Day and Pride and Prejudice; legendary fashion icon Twiggy Lawson; supermodel Natalia Vodianova, one of the highest-earning mannequins in the world; fashion magazine cover queen Claudia Schiffer; and iconic 1990s Wonderbra face Eva Herzigova.
Adding to this list of catwalk powerfuls are fashion blogger and media host Erin O’Connor; red-haired supermodel and singer Karen Elson; one-time “Model of the Millennium” Jacquetta Wheeler; Laura Bailey, face of global brands like Jaguar and Marks & Spencer; jewelry designer and socialite Jade Jagger; British fashion’s mother and daughter tandem, Jerry Hall and Georgia May Hall; Yasmin Le Bon and Amber Le Bon, another mother-daughter team active in design and modeling; and fast-rising supermodels Ben Grimes-Viort, Daisy Lowe, and Julia Restoin Roitfeld.
The rest in the list is a red-carpet rollout of royalty and gentry. There’s Princess Beatrice of York, whose fashion statement is always watched; Holly and Sam Branson, style-savvy children of Sir Richard Branson; Dame Vivienne Westwood, whose name is an established international brand; Andreas Kronthaler, Westwood’s partner; Beverley Knight, R&B and soul singer; fashion press darling Pixie Geldof, daughter of Knight Commander Bob Geldof; and Jasmine Guinness, heiress of Ireland’s Guiness family.
These powerful figures will be recognized and honored during the British Fashion Awards gala at the Royal Courts of Justice in The Strand this week.
