Wondering where the women video game players are? Check out the Nintendo side of things where there are reportedly more than 11 million female console players in the US.

At a BM Capital Market event, Nintendo America President Reggie Fils-Aime presented research that showed there are 11.7 million female primary players as compared to 33.3 million male primary players in the US.

It’s game time again this holiday season, as the new Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games will surely get players hitting the slopes on their Nintendo Wii and DS units.

The motion-controlled minigame features nine games like baseball, soccer/football, tennis, basketball, golf and even some ski jumping. Each game has its own respective sub-events. The games are good both in party game mode and single-player festival mode, and can accommodate up to four players either competitively or cooperatively.

Although all of the games are inspired by the real Olympics, there’s also the Dream Events, which are basically fantasy sports that need unlocking. At a recent American Heart Association meeting in Orlando, Florida, scientists declared that users who take up the Nintendo Wii sports games and Wii Fit activities are increasing their energy expenditure. This can be considered as equal to moderate intensity exercise, they said. continue reading…
