This will prove that after Twilight, there’s still an equally bloody rewarding career outside of Hollywood for its cast.

Kellan Lutz, the actor who played Emmett Cullen in the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s phenomenally-successful vampire novel series, has reportedly inked a deal with Calvin Klein to become the clothing company’s lead underwear model.

According to an unidentified source from Fox News, the actor is starring in a huge campaign similar to Mark Wahlberg, the Hollywood “bad boy” heartthrob who brought Calvin Klein’s underwear to iconic status in the 1990s. continue reading…

After two weeks at the box office top spot, the vampires of Twilight got bitten by Sandra Bullock and a sports-family-drama movie.

The good news is that as expected, overall business during the weekend slid a bit after Thanksgiving but still pretty high—21 percent—as compared to last year. The bad news is that attendance isn’t doing as well. A lot of the movies lost about 60 percent of their audiences over weekend. continue reading…

Despite a strong showing, The Twilight Saga: New Moon slipped a bit at the box-office during Thanksgiving weekend even as a football-family drama movie jumped forward at the tills.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon took in $42.5 million this weekend for a total of $230.7 million this weekend—but its take dropped 70.2 percent from the prior weekend.

Snapping at the heels of the vampire-romance movie was the Sandra Bullock-starrer The Blind Side, which earned $40.1 million to hit a little over $100 million on its second week. Compared to the blood-sucking top-grosser, this movie—which had an opening of $34.5 million—rose by 17.6 percent. continue reading…

It’s not surprising that this weekend was dominated by New Moon, the second movie in the Twilight franchise. However, a number of other movies also did well over the past few days with Sandra Bullock’s The Blind Side helping overall business climb up 56 percent.

At the top spot was The Twilight Saga: New Moon taking down $140.7 million on 8,500 screens at 4,024 sites. Despite expectations, there were only enough Twilight fans to make this movie the third highest-grossing opening in history behind The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3.

However, it was enough to make this movie the highest for this year, as well as the best midnight gross ($26.3 million) and the best first day gross ($72.7 million).  continue reading…

Obviously, Hollywood hasn’t escaped from the clutches of the global recession. In order to adjust, they’re taking on relatively unknown actors instead of hiring A-list movie stars.

Some examples are the recent successful movies that have graced the box-office lists. These movies include the buddy comedy The Hangover (little-known cast, made $459 million), District 9 (filmed in South Africa, made $200 million), and Paranormal Activity (unknown couple, made $100 million).

They’ve also raised the star mileage of actors Bradley Cooper and Sharlto Copley respectively. continue reading…
