Video megasite YouTube has released its first ever list of top videos to conclude the year since its humble inception back in 2005.

It appears that Susan Boyle’s first performance on Britain’s Got Talent is the site’s most viewed video for 2009, as announced by the video site on Wednesday. The video has so far registered 120+ million views.

It is followed by the video David After Dentist which is about a boy talking inside a car about his sore mouth. It garnered some 37+ million views. continue reading…

After two weeks at the box office top spot, the vampires of Twilight got bitten by Sandra Bullock and a sports-family-drama movie.

The good news is that as expected, overall business during the weekend slid a bit after Thanksgiving but still pretty high—21 percent—as compared to last year. The bad news is that attendance isn’t doing as well. A lot of the movies lost about 60 percent of their audiences over weekend. continue reading…

Barely a month after the successful screening of the second installment of the phenomenal Twilight saga, New Moon hunk Taylor Lautner has just booked another job that will strengthen his promising Hollywood career.

Blog site Deadline.com reported that the actor inked a deal with Paramount Pictures to star in the remake of the film Max Steel, a high-selling Mattel action figure turned into a comic book and cartoon TV superhero. continue reading…

Despite a strong showing, The Twilight Saga: New Moon slipped a bit at the box-office during Thanksgiving weekend even as a football-family drama movie jumped forward at the tills.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon took in $42.5 million this weekend for a total of $230.7 million this weekend—but its take dropped 70.2 percent from the prior weekend.

Snapping at the heels of the vampire-romance movie was the Sandra Bullock-starrer The Blind Side, which earned $40.1 million to hit a little over $100 million on its second week. Compared to the blood-sucking top-grosser, this movie—which had an opening of $34.5 million—rose by 17.6 percent. continue reading…

It’s not surprising that this weekend was dominated by New Moon, the second movie in the Twilight franchise. However, a number of other movies also did well over the past few days with Sandra Bullock’s The Blind Side helping overall business climb up 56 percent.

At the top spot was The Twilight Saga: New Moon taking down $140.7 million on 8,500 screens at 4,024 sites. Despite expectations, there were only enough Twilight fans to make this movie the third highest-grossing opening in history behind The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 3.

However, it was enough to make this movie the highest for this year, as well as the best midnight gross ($26.3 million) and the best first day gross ($72.7 million).  continue reading…
