Black Friday is coming to stores this week and it seems like General Motors is joining in the fun with a few inventory sales.

GM has recently announced that they’re clearing their 2009 inventory by the time January 2010 rolls around. This means that each of their production lines will have a specific sale. November 28, last year’s Black Friday, also had its dark moments. Aside from retailers making big bucks, 2008 Black Friday was also marked by the passing of a Wal-Mart employee.

Jdimytai Damour, a 34-year-old worker at the retail giant’s outlet in Long Island died after being trampled by rampaging shoppers during a 24-hour-period of door buster sales featuring early bird special offers.

To avoid similar accidents this year, Wal-Mart is planning ahead, by using “store-specific plans” from various safety consultants and experts. “Customer and associate safety is always a top priority for us. This holiday season is no exception,” Wal-Mart said in a statement posted on its website. continue reading…
